Suoyarvi

Suoyarvi is a town and the administrative center of Suoyarvsky District of the Republic of Karelia, Russia, located 140 kilometers northwest of Petrozavodsk. Population: 9,766; 11,600; 11,772. Town status was granted to it in 1940. Suojärvi was the second largest town (by area, after Petsamo) ceded by Finland to the Soviet Union after the Continuation War in 1944.
