Sudzha, Kursk Oblast

Sudzha is a town and the administrative center of Sudzhansky District of Kursk Oblast, Russia, located on the Sudzha and Olyoshnya Rivers 105 kilometers southwest of Kursk. Population: 6,036; 7,045; 7,487. It was founded in the 17th century as a part of the system of fortifications defending the southern approaches to Moscow. It was granted town status in 1664.

Sudzhansky District is an administrative and municipal district, one of the twenty-eight in Kursk Oblast, Russia. It is located in the southwest of the oblast. The area of the district is 996 square kilometers . Its administrative center is the town of Sudzha. Population: 26,964; 31,466; 34,438. The population of Sudzha accounts for 22.4% of the district's total population.
