Kolka-Karmadon rock ice slide

The Kolka-Karmadon rock-ice slide occurred on the northern slope of the Kazbek massif in North Ossetia, Russia on the 20th of September 2002 following a partial collapse of the Kolka Glacier. It started on the north-northeast wall of Dzhimarai-Khokh, 4,780 m above sea level, and seriously affected the valley of Genaldon and Karmadon. The resulting avalanche and mudflow killed 125 people (including a film crew of 27 people and Russian actor Sergei Bodrov Jr.).

Beslan is a town and the administrative center of Pravoberezhny District of the Republic of North Ossetia–Alania, Russia. Population: 36,728; 35,550; 32,469. In terms of population, Beslan is the third largest town in the republic behind Vladikavkaz and Mozdok.

Beslan Airport

Beslan Airport is a civilian airport in the Republic of North Ossetia–Alania, Russia located 5 km northeast of Beslan and 15 kilometres from Vladikavkaz. It is a small airport servicing medium-sized airliners. It parks 5 aircraft and 9 smaller ones. The airport has 2 terminals, one domestic and one international. The international terminal serves occasional charter flights to Antalya and a few other destinations. The airport's operational hours are from 09h00 to 20h00 Moscow time.
