Baykal, Vysokogorsky District, Republic of Tatarstan

Baykal is a village in Vysokogorsky District of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, situated 15 kilometers south-east of Vysokaya Gora, the administrative center of the district. The village is situated on the Kazanka River. Baykal's population was 51 in 1989, 28 in 1997 and 24 in 2000; mostly ethnic Tatars (as on 1989). The main occupation of the residents is agriculture. There is a club in the village. It was founded in 1930.

Koshlauch

Koshlauch is a village in Arsky District, Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, located 24 kilometers north-west of Arsk, district's administrative center. The village is situated on the Krasnaya, Kazanka's right tributary. Population: 151 (2000 est. ); 137 (1989); all ethnic Tatars. The main occupations of the residents are agriculture and cattle breeding. The village is known since the Khanate of Kazan epoch. It is the native village of the Tatar poet Ğabdulla Tuqay. The museum is placed in his home.
