Alexeyevsky District, Republic of Tatarstan

Alexeyevsky District is an administrative and municipal district, one of the forty-three in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia. It is located in the southwestern central part of the republic on the left bank of the Kama River. The area of the district is 2,080.1 square kilometers . Its administrative center is the urban locality of Alexeyevskoye. Population: 26,236; 26,207; 24,309. The population of Alexeyevskoye accounts for 42.8% of the district's total population.

Bilär

Bilär was a medieval city in Volga Bulgaria and its second capital before the Mongol invasion of Volga Bulgaria. It was located on the left bank of the Small Cheremshan River in modern-day Alexeyevsky District of the Republic of Tatarstan. The city was founded by the indigenous Bilyar tribe of the Volga Bulgars. In the Rus chronicles, it was also known as "Great City" (Великий город), because its population reputedly was in excess of 100,000.

Kama River

Kama is a major river in Russia, the longest left tributary of the Volga and the largest one in discharge; in fact, it is larger than the Volga before junction. It starts in Udmurtia, near Kuliga, flowing north-west on 125 miles, turn north-east near Loyno for another 125 miles, then turns south and west in Perm Krai, flowing again through Udmurtia and then through Tatarstan, where it meets the Volga.
