Argun River (Asia)

Ergune or Argun is the river which is a part of the Russia–China border. Its upper reaches are known as Hailar River (海拉尔河, Haila'er He) in China. Its length is 1,007 mi (1,620 km). The Ergune marks the border (established by the Treaty of Nerchinsk in 1689) between Russia and China for about 944 km, until it meets the Amur River. The name derives from Buryat Urgengol 'wide river' (urgen 'wide' + gol 'river').

Shilka River

The Shilka is a river in Zabaykalsky Krai, south-eastern Russia. It has a length of 560 km . It originates as a confluence of the Onon and Ingoda rivers. Its confluence with the Ergune on the Russia-China border gives rise to the Amur River. The river is navigable for its entire length. The name derives from Evenki shilki 'narrow valley.'
