Nyanza, Rwanda

Kirundo Province

Kirundo is one of the seventeen provinces of Burundi with seven communes (Busoni, Bwabaragwe, Kirundo, Bugabira, Vumbi, Ntega and Gitobe). Kirundo has three big lakes: Cohoha, Rweru, and Rwihinda. Lakes Cohoha and Rweru are located in commune Busone, and Lake Rwihinda is in commune Kirundo. Kirundo is the capital city of province Kirundo. Before the climate change, Kirundo was the richest province because of its productive land. Now Kirundo is no longer productive.

Butare Province

Butare was a province (prefecture) of Rwanda prior to its dissolution in January 2006. Butare city is the second largest city in Rwanda and one of the nation's former twelve provinces. It is located in south-central region of the country and borders Burundi to the south. It had a population of 77.449 as of January 2006.
