Saint Martin
Saint Martin is an island in the northeast Caribbean, approximately 300 km east of Puerto Rico. The 87 km island is divided roughly 60/40 between France (53 km) and the Kingdom of the Netherlands (34 km); they are roughly equal in population. It is one of the smallest sea islands divided between two nations, a division dating to 1648. The southern Dutch part comprises Sint Maarten and is one of four constituent countries that form the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Île Tintamarre is a small island with an area of approximately 0.8 square kilometres. It is situated in the Caribbean Sea, about 3 kilometres from the island of Saint Martin, and is administered as part of the French overseas collectivity of Saint Martin. The island currently has no human occupants, but has been inhabited in the past. Between 1946 and 1950, it was the base for the airline Compagnie Aérienne Antillaise, which flew planes from the island's 500-metre airstrip (no longer existent.)
