Kojca (mountain)

Mount Kojca is a 1,303-meter-high mountain in the Cerkno Hills in the municipality of Cerkno in western Slovenia. It stands south of Mount Porezen and its summit offers views of the Cerkno region and the surrounding peaks. Mount Kojca shares its name with the hamlet of Kojca in Bukovo. The hamlet of Kojca is the oldest attested settlement below Mount Kojca and was formerly the seat of the local parish. In older sources Kojca is referred to as Kožica.

Cerkno Hills

The Cerkno Hills (Slovene: Cerkljansko hribovje or Cerkljansko) is a transitional region between the Alpine and the Dinaric landscape, centered around Cerkno in northwestern Slovenia. Several passes in this area connect the Poljane Valley and the Selca Valley with the Idrijca Valley and the Soča Valley. The highest peak is Porezen . The landscape is geologically very diverse and one of the most interesting in Slovenia in this regard.

Franja Partisan Hospital

The Franja Partisan Hospital (Slovene: Partizanska bolnica Franja) was a secret World War II hospital at Dolenji Novaki near Cerkno in western Slovenia. It was run by the Slovene Partisans from December 1943 until the end of the war as part of a broadly organized resistance movement against the Fascist and Nazi occupying forces. The wounded being treated there were soldiers from both the Allied Powers and the Axis Powers.

Goriška Statistical Region

The Gorizia Statistical Region (Slovene: Goriška statistična regija) is a statistical region in western Slovenia, along the border with Italy. It is named after the town of Gorizia (Sln. Gorica), now in Italy, the historical economic and cultural center of the area. It comprises the Goriška region and part of the Inner Carniola region. The western Julian Alps, the River Soča and the Vipava Valley are its best known features.
