Podravska Statistical Region

The Drava Statistical Region (Slovene: Podravska statistična regija) is a statistical region in Slovenia. The largest town in the region is Maribor. Its name comes from the Drava River and includes land on both banks along its course through Slovenia as well as the Pohorje mountains in the northeast of the region. The Drava is used for the production of hydroelectricity and the fertile land around it is used for agriculture.

Maribor Edvard Rusjan Airport

Maribor Edvard Rusjan Airport (Slovene: Letališče Edvarda Rusjana Maribor) is the second biggest airport in Slovenia, serving the city of Maribor. It is located 9 km south of the Maribor railway station, near Slivnica. The airport currently has one scheduled flight and there are also seasonal charter flights to coastal destinations. It is named after the Slovene pioneer aviator Edvard Rusjan.

Pohorje transmitter

Pohorje transmitter is a facility for FM- and TV-broadcasting in the Pohorje Mountains west of Maribor, Slovenia 1056 metres above sea level. Pohorje transmitter uses as antenna tower a 72 metre tall lattice tower. Although this tower is designed as free-standing, it is guyed in two levels in six directions. This extensive additional guying is unique, especially when one considers that the tower is not very tall and situated in a forest area.

Betnava Mansion

Betnava Mansion is a manorhouse located near the city of Maribor in northern Slovenia. A structure on the site is first mentioned in 1319, under the name Wintenaw. By the 16th century, it had grown into a fortified and moated renaissance manor. It passed through the hands of numerous owners, including the noble families of Herberstein, Khiessl, Auersperg, Ursini-Rosenberg, Szekely, Brandis in von der Dur.
