Battle of Blaauwberg

The Battle of Blaauwberg, also known as the Battle of Cape Town, fought near Cape Town on 8 January 1806, was a small but significant military engagement. It established British rule in South Africa, which was to have many ramifications during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. A bi-centennial commemoration was held in January 2006.

Sepia tuberculata

Sepia tuberculata is a species of cuttlefish native to South African waters from Melkbosstrand to Knysna . It lives in very shallow water to a depth of 3 m. It is endemic. The type specimen was collected off the coast of South Africa and is deposited at the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris.

Killarney Motor Racing Complex

Killarney Motor Racing Complex is a motor racing complex in Cape Town, South Africa. It first saw action in 1947. In 1959/60 the track was upgraded and rebuilt to conform to the required FIA standard for the 1500 cc Formula One cars of the time. The design was entrusted to Edgar Hoal, a leading racing driver and roads engineer, who also supervised its construction.

Sepia angulata

Sepia angulata is a species of cuttlefish native to the southeastern Atlantic Ocean, from Bloubergstrand to Still Bay . It is known only from cuttlebones. The validity of S. angulata has been questioned. Cuttlebones of this species are up to 75 mm in length. The type specimen was collected near Bloubergstrand, South Africa and is deposited at the South African Museum.
