Roque de los Muchachos Observatory

Roque de los Muchachos Observatory is an astronomical observatory located in the municipality of Garafía on the island of La Palma in the Canary Islands. The observatory site is operated by the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias which is based on nearby Tenerife, and it is part of European Northern Observatory. The seeing statistics make it the second best location for optical and infrared astronomy in the Northern Hemisphere, after Mauna Kea Observatory, Hawaii.

Mercator Telescope

The Mercator Telescope is a 1.2m telescope, operated by the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Leuven University), Belgium, in collaboration with the Observatory of the University of Geneva. It is named after Gerard Mercator, famous cartographer. The telescope contains two different measuring devices. First of all, there is the MeropeII CCD camera. This camera has a size of 2k by 6k pixels Frame Transfer detector originally designed for ESA's canceled Eddington space mission.

Liverpool Telescope

The Liverpool Telescope (LT) is a 2-metre fully robotic Ritchey–Chrétien telescope that observes autonomously; i.e. , it operates without human intervention. Professional astronomers and other registered users submit observation specifications to be considered by the telescope's robotic control system (RCS) at any time of the day or night using an online GUI. Each night the RCS decides for itself what to observe next based on visibility and weather conditions.

Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes

The Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes or ING operates the William Herschel Telescope, Isaac Newton Telescope and Jacobus Kapteyn Telescope optical telescopes for the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), the NWO and the IAC. The telescopes are located at Roque de los Muchachos Observatory on La Palma in the Canary Islands. These telescopes were formerly under the control of the Royal Greenwich Observatory before UK government cutbacks in 1998.

MAGIC (telescope)

MAGIC (Major Atmospheric Gamma-ray Imaging Cherenkov Telescopes) is a system of two Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes situated at the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory on La Palma, one of the Canary Islands, at about 2200 m above sea level. MAGIC detects particle showers released by gamma rays, using the Cherenkov radiation, i.e. , faint light radiated by the charged particles in the showers.
