GR 11 (Spain)

The GR 11 is part of the extensive GR footpath network of paths, tracks and trails. It runs through the Spanish Pyrenees, passing only briefly into France near Candanchu. From West to East, the trail starts at Cape Higuer, crosses Navarre and Aragon and finishes at Cap de Creus Its exact distance is difficult to measure, roughly 840 km and a total elevation change of 39,000 m. The route is separated into 45 sections.

Vielha Tunnel

The Vielha tunnel is a road tunnel in north-west Catalonia, connecting Vielha, the capital of the Val d'Aran valley, with the Alta Ribagorça comarca. It is part of the N-230 road and consists of 2 parallel tunnels. The older one, named Alfonso XIII Tunnel in honour of Spanish king Alfonso XIII, was opened in 1948 and became the longest road tunnel in the world, with a length of 5240 metres, until 1964, when the Great St Bernard Tunnel was inaugurated.

N-230 road (Spain)

The N-230 connects Lleida to Vielha, the Vall d'Aran and France. It passes through Benabarre, the Vall del Noguera Ribagorçana and the Vielha tunnel (5.240m). The road is to be up-graded to the Autovía A-14.

Noguera Ribagorzana/Noguera Ribagorçana

The Noguera Ribagorzana or Noguera Ribagorçana is a river in northern Spain. For much of its course of 130 km it forms the administrative boundary between Catalonia and Aragon. Its source is in the municipality of Vielha e Mijaran at an elevation of about 2400 m, and its upper valley forms the main access route to the Aran Valley (N-230 road and the Vielha tunnel under the watershed). It passes through the traditional county of Ribagorça and the town of Pont de Suert.

Sant Climent de Taüll

Sant Climent de Taüll, also known as the Church of St. Clement of Tahull is a Roman Catholic church. It is a form of Romanesque architecture that contains magnificent Romanesque art. Other influences include the Lombard and Byzantine styles, which can be seen throughout the exterior and interior of the building. The church is a basilica plan structure with three naves,(each of them with a terminal apse) and large columns separating the side naves.
