Piornedo is a small village in the Ancares mountains in Spain. It is part of the municipality of Cervantes, which is in the comarca of Os Ancares, in the province of Lugo, Galicia. The village is located at a height of approximately 1,300 metres. Piornedo is famous for its museum, a preserved palloza or traditional house, that shows how people lived in this remote region until comparatively recently.

Cervantes, Lugo
Cervantes is a municipality in the comarca of Os Ancares, in the province of Lugo, Galicia (Spain). It had a population of 1,973 in 2005, and has an area of 277 square kilometres. Its highest point is Mustellar (1924 m), in the Ancares mountains. Until the second half of the 20th century this part of Spain was isolated. Many settlements had no road access or electricity and were cut off by snow in winter. Communities were small and self-sufficient.

Serra dos Ancares
The Serra dos Ancares is a mountain range in north-west Spain, extending in a south-westerly direction from the western end of the Cantabrian Mountains in Asturias. The range connects with the Galician Massif through the Serra do Courel and forms the boundary between the autonomous communities of Galicia and Castile and León. The highest point of the range is the Cuiña Peak (1,987 m).
