Battle of Gannoruwa
The Battle of Gannoruwa was a battle of the Sinhalese–Portuguese War fought in 1638 between the occupying Portuguese forces and the Sinhalese King's army at Gannoruwa in the District of Kandy, Sri Lanka. The Portuguese had attempted three times without success to capture the Kingdom of Kandy, in order to bring the entire country under their rule. In 1635, Rajasinghe II became the king of Kandy and started negotiations with the Dutch to obtain their help in driving out the Portuguese.

Bogambara Prison
The Bogambara Prison is a maximum security prison and is the second largest prison in Sri Lanka. Situated in the old city of Kandy in the Central Province it was built in 1876 by the British colonial government under instructions of Inspector General Of Prisons and Police, N.R. Saunders. The oldest exciting building in world heritage city of Kandy is also inside the Bogambara Prison, and presently it is used as the Carpentry stores. Gallows were shifted from Hangman’s Hill to Bogambara in 1876.

Ranabima Royal College
Ranabima Royal College (Sinhala: රණබිම රාජකීය විද්යාලය; also known as Royal College, Ranabima or Ranabima Royal Maha Vidyalaya) is a provincial school in Gannoruwa near Kandy, Sri Lanka. The school is surrounded by Gannoruwa and Hanthana Mountains, and is situated on the bank of the Mahaweli river. Dividos sanctuary is located just beside the school, as are the Royal Botanical Gardens and University of Peradeniya.
