Valaichchenai

Valaichchenai is a town in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka. It could also be spelled as Valaichenai. The world famous Pasikudah Beach is located about 3 km east of Valaichenai along the Indian Ocean. Pasikudah beach is famous for shallow and calm sea water.

Eastern University, Sri Lanka

The Eastern University, Sri Lanka (Sinhala: නැගෙනහිර විශ්වවිද්‍යාලය, ශ්‍රී ලංකා, Tamil: கிழக்குப் பல்கலைக்கழகம், இலங்கை) (abbreviated EUSL) is a public university in Vantharumoolai in Sri Lanka. Established in 1981 as a university college, it became a full fledged university in 1986.

Eastern University massacre

Eastern University massacre also known as Vantharamulai (also Vantharoomulai) campus massacre refers to the arrest and subsequent mass murder of 158 minority Sri Lankan Tamil refugees who had taken refuge in the Eastern University campus close to the city Batticalo of on September 5, 1990. A witness identified the Sri Lankan Army personnel as the perpetrator. The event is part of what is known amongst Sri Lankan Tamils as Black September series of civilian massacres.
