SLAF China Bay
Triconamalee airport திருகோணமலை விமான நிலையம்-(சைனா பே விமான படை தளம்) is a Sri Lanka Air Force base located at China Bay, Trincomalee. The airbase is situated close to the coast and has a long runway which is capable of handling all wide-body aircraft, except for the Airbus A380. Currently the largest aircraft using the airport is a Boeing 727-200 operated by Lankan Cargo. Capture of Trincomalee (1795)
The Capture of Trincomalee was the taking by force of the port of Trincomalee in the island of Ceylon by British forces on August 26, 1795. The principal fortress, Fort Ostenburg, held out until August 31. On 23 July 1795 a squadron under Commodore Peter Rainier consisting of Suffolk, Hobart, Centurion, Diomede, with troop-transports, and sailed for Ceylon to take Trincomalee and other Dutch settlements on Ceylon.

Located in Sri Lanka's dry zone, the Kinniya region often experiences hot and dry weather with very little precipitation.
