Dambadeniya

Dambadeniya is a ruined ancient city situated in the North Western Province (Wayamba), Sri Lanka on the Kurunegala - Negombo road. It served as the capital of Sri Lanka in the mid 13th century. Much of Dambadeniya still lies buried on a huge fortified rock. Dambadeniya is situated about 31 km from Kurunegala, the modern day capital of the North Western Province. It is believed that the Dambadeniya period was the 'Golden Era' of Sinhalese Literature.

Polgahawela

Polgahawela is a town in north western Sri Lanka. The town is most notable for being a major railway junction. Polgahawela is a small town that belongs to the North Western Province of Sri Lanka, and situated at a distance of 80 km north-east from the capital city of Colombo; 50 km from Kandy; 20 km from Kurunegala; and 65 km from Bandaranayake International Airport. Polgahawela is famous for its railway station, situated at the junction between Sri Lanka Railways' Main line and Northern line.
