The A 12 road is an A-Grade trunk road in Sri Lanka. It connects the Puttalam with Trincomallee. The A 12 passes through Karuwalagaswewa, Palugassegama, Kala Oya, Nochchiyagama, Maha Bulankulama, Anuradhapura, Mihintale, Tammanewa, Kahatagasdigiliya, Morakewa, Horowapotana, Morawewa (Muthalikulam), Pankulam and Kanniya to reach Trincomallee.

Sellankandal
Sellankandal is a village situated 10 km inland from coastal Puttalam city in the North Western Province of Sri Lanka. It is the primary settlement of people of Black African descent in Sri Lanka called Kaffirs who until the 1930s spoke a Creole version of Portuguese. Most villages speak Sinhala and are found throughout the country as well as in the Middle East. The Baila type of music, very popular in Sri Lanka since the 1980s, originated centuries ago among this 'kaffir' community.

Puttalam Lagoon
The Puttalam Lagoon is a large 327 km lagoon in the Puttalam District, western Sri Lanka. The lagoon is fed by two rivers, namely the Kala Oya and Mi Oya, discharging at 2.2 m/s and 8.1 m/s respectively. It is linked to Mundal Lagoon 15 km to the south by a channel. The lagoon's water is brackish to saline. The lagoon is surrounded by a region containing coconuts, open forests, grasslands and shrublands. The land is used for prawn fishing, salt production, and rice cultivation.

Mampuri
Mampuri is a small village situated within the Puttalam peninsula in the Puttalam District in Sri Lanka. It has transformed since 1990's from a largely farming and seasonal fishing settlement into a fishing dominant village. Its population includes Sinhalese, Sri Lankan Tamils and Sri Lankan Muslims.

Kalkudah
Kalkudah or Kalkuda (Pronounced Kal-Kuda, Tamil translation rock-bay) is a coastal resort town located about 35 kilometers northwest of Batticaloa, Batticaloa District, Sri Lanka. It used to be a popular tourist destination, however due to 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami and Sri Lankan Civil War tourist numbers have declined. Pasikudah and Kalkudah are located few kilometers apart. In recent time, Kalkudah receives plenty of visitors to Pasikudah beach.
