Gothami Kanishta Vidyalaya is an elementary (1–5) and high school (6–11) founded in 1932 in the city of Gampaha in Sri Lanka. Started as a girls school, it now is a mixed school. The school is controlled by the Provincial Council.

Holy Cross Church, Gampaha

Holy Cross Church is a Roman Catholic church located in Gampaha, Sri Lanka. It is part of the Archdiocese of Colombo. The church is nicknamed the "Rock Church" because the outside of the church is faced with gneiss. The Holy Cross Church is known as Gal Palliya (Rock Church) in Sinhala language .

Ganemulla

Found in the British era Ganemulla is a mid size town situated in the Gampaha District of Sri Lanka. Ganemulla is about 9 km from Kadawatha on the Colombo-Kandy road. The nearest city to Ganemulla is Gampaha, which is about 5 km in distance. Ganemulla is surrounded by Kadawatha, Gampaha, Ja-Ela and Kandana towns. The population in Ganemulla now more than 6000 and increasing. The majority is Sinhala Buddhist. Catholics also lives a small amount in harmony with the majority.

2008 Weliveriya bombing

On April 6, 2008, 15 people were killed by an alleged suicide bomber, who exploded himself at the start of a marathon race which was part of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebration in Weliweriya town, Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka's national athletics coach Lakshman de Alwis, politician Jeyaraj Fernandopulle, former Olympics runner K.A. Karunaratne and army officer Lt Colonel Udayadeera were killed in the bombing which wounded 90 others.
