Fagersta Municipality

Fagersta Municipality (Fagersta kommun) is a municipality in Västmanland County in central Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Fagersta. The City of Fagersta (instituted in 1944) was in 1967 merged with Västervåla parish (which had been part of Surahammar Municipality since 1963). In 1971 it was transformed into a municipality of unitary type.

Bastnäs

Bastnäs (Swedish: Bastnäs or Bastnäsfältet) is an ore field near Riddarhyttan, Västmanland, Sweden. The mines in Bastnäs were earliest mentioned in 1692. Iron, copper and rare earth elements was extracted from the mines and 4,500 tons of cerium was produced between 1875 and 1888. The chemical element cerium was first discovered in Bastnäs in 1803 by Jöns Jakob Berzelius and Wilhelm Hisinger in the form of its oxide, ceria, and independently in Germany by Martin Heinrich Klaproth.

Skinnskatteberg Municipality

Skinnskatteberg Municipality (Skinnskattebergs kommun) is a municipality in Västmanland County in central Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Skinnskatteberg. In 1952 a new greater municipality was created when "old" Skinskatteberg was merged with Gunnilbo and Hed. The next subdivision reform of 1971 did not affect this entity.
