Tingsryd Municipality

Tingsryd Municipality (Tingsryds kommun) is a municipality in Småland, southern Sweden, in southeastern Kronoberg County, where the town Tingsryd is seat. The present municipality was formed by the local government reform of 1971 when the market town Tingsryd (instituted in 1921) was amalgamated with its surrounding entities. Tingsryd Municipality refers to itself as the "Horse Capital" because of a close connection to horses; they are housing nearly 2,000 horses.

Mien (lake)

Mien is a lake in southern Sweden, 12 km (7.5 mi) southwest of the town of Tingsryd. The lake is formed within a meteorite crater. Mien crater is located in SwedenMien craterMien crater Lake Mien in Sweden The eroded crater is marked by a 5.5-km (3.4-mi) diameter circular lake (Lake Mien). The original crater rim is estimated to have been about 9 km in diameter before erosion. Its age is estimated to be 121.0 ± 2.3 million years.

Åsnen

Åsnen is a large lake in southern Småland, Sweden, roughly 150 km² in size. The river Mörrumsån flows south from Åsnen into the Baltic Sea. The lake lies south of Alvesta and Växjö and northwest of Tingsryd and is the second-largest lake in Smålands, after Bolmen. Approximately 19 km² of the lake's area is occupied by small islands. Åsnen has many small bays and islands, the largest of which is Sirkön.
