Vidsel Air Base
Vidsel Air Base is a Swedish Air Force airfield located 15 km west-northwest of the town of Vidsel, in Sweden. It is a critical part of the aerospace test and evaluation role Vidsel Test Range provides for Sweden through the Test & Evaluation (T&E) department of Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV). The Swedish Armed Forces, 21st Air Force Wing is the proprietor of the Air Base. By contract between SAF and FMV, FMV T&E use the base as part of the Vidsel Test Range.

Storforsen
Storforsen, a rapid in the Pite River in Swedish Norrbottens län is located approximately 38 km northwest of Älvsbyn. With an average flow of 250 m/s, the rapids are one of the biggest in Europe. The rapids stretch out over a distance of 5 km in which the riverbed is lowered by 82 metres. Flow usually is highest at midsummer: 870 m/s. During the floodyear 1995 a total of 1200 cubic metres flowed down Storforsen each second.

Laver (ghost town)
Laver is a ghost town located about 15 km southwest of Vidsel and 50 km west of Älvsbyn in Sweden which existed between 1936 and 1947. It was a mining community where copper was extracted. About 350 people lived there at most. The operations of the Laver mine ended on 4 November 1946.
