Interesting facts about this location

Pershyttan

Pershyttan is a small mining town approximately 3 kilometres south south west of Nora, Sweden (174 km west of Stockholm). It has been restored and kept mainly as a working museum of Bergslagen's mining and iron handling which started in the early 14th century. One of Sweden's best preserved charcoal-fuelled blast furnaces from 1856 can be found in Pershyttan. In the area is there is also one of the biggest working water wheels.

Nora Municipality

Nora Municipality (Nora kommun) is a municipality in Örebro County in central Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Nora. The amalgamation leading to the present municipality took place already in 1967 and in 1971 the City of Nora became a unitary municipality.

Kilsbergen

Kilsbergen (Wedge Mountains/Hills) is a low mountainous ridge that separates Närke from Värmland. It is the southernmost extension of the taiga in Scandinavia and shows a flora and fauna that are unusual for the latitude. There are several skiing and hiking facilities in Kilsbergen. Kilsbergen is especially known for its elk population. It was awarded the 1998 Elk Protection medal by Hans Hoffberg in 1993 and these magnificent beasts continue to thrive in the area.

Latorp

Latorp is a village of Örebro Municipality in Sweden. It is located about 12 kilometers west of Örebro, and has a population of about 500. Recently the local inhabitants saved a local school by protesting against its permanent closure with the help of 130 liters of popcorn. Latorp was also the centre for a campaign in 2004 against the Tysslinge area becoming a city of its own. The village has a very active community council .
