Göksholm

Göksholm is a medieval Swedish castle located on the southern beach of lake Hjälmaren. It is the oldest privately owned building in Sweden that has been continuously inhabited. Göksholm's oldest parts can be dated to the 13th century. It is located in Stora Mellösa, Örebro Municipality.

Hjälmaren

Lake Hjälmaren is Sweden's fourth largest lake. It is situated adjacent to Lake Mälaren through which it drains into the Baltic Sea, west of Stockholm. It is connected by waterway with Stockholm by the 13 kilometres long Hjälmare kanal. It is bounded by the provinces of Södermanland, Närke, and Västmanland. Hjälmaren is 63 kilometres long, about 20 kilometres wide, and has an average depth of 6 metres, and a surface of 485 km². The town of Örebro is situated at the western end of the lake.

Ysätters-Kajsa

Ysätters-Kajsa was a wind-troll that people used to believe in the Swedish province of Närke, probably the only one of her kind in Scandinavia. The Swedish writer Selma Lagerlöf immortalised Ysätters-Kajsa in her famous novel The Wonderful Adventures of Nils (1906–1907). She wrote that in Närke, in the old days, there was something that existed nowhere else and it was a troll named Ysätters-Kajsa.
