Östergötland County

Östergötland County (Östergötlands län) is a county or län in southeastern Sweden. It borders the counties of Kalmar to the southeast, Jönköping to the southwest, Västra Götaland to the west, Örebro to the northwest, Södermanland to the northeast, and the Baltic Sea to the east. Östergötland County has a population of 429 852 (March 31, 2011) and the capital and biggest city is Linköping.

Ulvåsa

Ulvåsa, or Ulfåsa, is an mansion by lake Boren outside Motala in Östergötland, Sweden. The construction of the present mansion began in the 16th century. In the early 19th century a third floor was added and it got its present architecture. The medieval Ulvåsa was situated a few kilometers west of the present mansion. Today, there are ruins left of the manor where Saint Bridget of Sweden lived most of her life.

Boren (Sweden)

Boren, is a lake in Östergötland, east of Motala, 73 m above sea level. It covers an area of 28 km² and is at most 14 meters deep. It forms a part of the Göta Canal and has given its name to Borensberg.

Birgittas udde

Birgittas udde ("Birgitta's Point") is situated on the south shore of lake Boren, Motala, Sweden. Medieval ruins of the Ulvåsa Manor House where St Birgitta lived most of her life. Next to the point, lies the modern Ulvåsa Castle.

Charlottenborg Castle

For the former royal residence in Copenhagen, see Charlottenborg Palace; see also Charlottenburg. Charlottenborg slott, is a country house or manor house rather than a castle, on the shores of Motala ström, Östergötland, Sweden. The house was built in the mid 17th century by Ludvig Wierich Lewenhaupt and named in honour of his wife, Charlotte von Hohenlohe-Neuenstein. Charlottenborg has been home to both Adam Ludwig Lewenhaupt and Daniel Fraser.
