Ekerö Municipality

Ekerö Municipality (Ekerö kommun) is a municipality in Stockholm County in east central Sweden. The name comes from the island Ekerö, and literally means "Oak Island". Its seat is located in the town of Ekerö. Even if the City of Stockholm is the official capital of Sweden, the King of Sweden actually lives in Ekerö Municipality, at Drottningholm Palace (see below). Ekerö is the only municipality in the Lake Mälaren region composed exclusively of islands.

Uppland Runic Inscription 15

U 15 is located inside Ekerö church. It was previously part of the stonefloor in the church but has since been put on display. It is assumed that Ingeborg lived at old Asknäs estate that is located close to the church. The stone is also referred to as the Ingeborg-stone. It is noteworthy that, while the stone uses the rune alphabet, the inscription itself is in Latin.

Svartsjö Palace

Hässelby Villastad

Hässelby Villastad is a suburban area in the north-western part of the Swedish capital Stockholm. It forms part of Västerort, Stockholm Municipality. Stretching west to Lake Mälaren, it is largely a middle class area, consisting of numerous streets, the central commercial area Åkermyntan, and the big refuse dump Lövsta, which was used to burn all of Stockholm's rubbish from the late 19th century to about 1950.
