Uppland

Uppland is a historical province or landskap on the eastern coast of Sweden, just north of Stockholm, the capital. It borders Södermanland, Västmanland and Gästrikland. It is also bounded by lake Mälaren and the Baltic sea. It has an extremely short and strangely shaped land border with Åland, an autonomous province of Finland, on the small uninhabited island of Märket in the Baltic. The name literally means up land, a name which is commonly encountered in especially older English literature.

Gimo Air Base

Gimo Air Base used to be a small military airport near the town of Gimo in Sweden. Today it is no longer used by the military and it is now known as Lunda Flygfält (Lunda Airfield). Of the 2,000 meters of runway only 800 meters now remains available for aircraft use. The airfield is most commonly used for various motorsport events, however aircraft are still allowed to use the airfield if prior permission is obtained from the operator.

Lötsjön

Lötsjön is a small lake in Sundbyberg, a municipality north of Stockholm, Sweden. The shallow lake features a rich variety of water birds and a fountain. A promenade of approx. 1.4 km length leads around Lötsjön. Swimming in the lake is prohibited. The lake Råstasjön is located in close proximity to the east of Lötsjön.

Dannemora mine

The Dannemora mine at Dannemora, Sweden was one of the most important iron ore mines in Sweden. The mine was closed by its owners SSAB in 1992. It may have been open since the 13th century, but the first documentary reference was in 1481. The mine supplied all the ironworks making oregrounds iron by the Walloon process, such as Österby and Leufsta. Their products were particularly pure iron, due the manganese content of the iron ore.

Funbo Church

The Funbo Church is a medieval church in the Funbo village, Uppsala Municipality, eastern Sweden. It is located in the parish of Danmark-Funbo, in the Archdiocese of Uppsala. It is a stone church, built in the late 12th century. It consists of a rectangular nave, a narrow choir and an apse. The sacristy and the porch were added in the 15th century. The porch was used as the main entrance until 1745, when the current entrance in the western wall was built. The bell tower was erected in 1675.
