Töreboda Municipality

Töreboda Municipality (Töreboda kommun) is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Töreboda. The present municipality was formed in 1971, when the market town of Töreboda (itself instituted in 1909) was amalgamated with Moholm and parts of Undenäs and Hova.

Battle of Älgarås

The Battle of Älgarås took place at the royal estate of Älgarås in northernmost Västergötland in November 1205 between the House of Sverker and the House of Erik fighting for the Swedish crown. The brothers Jon, Joar, Knut and Erik Knutsson were staying at the estate when the Sverker clan attacked. All the brothers were slain but Erik. The estate was burnt down completely and abandoned, and it is no longer known exactly where it was located.

Gullspång Municipality

Gullspång Municipality (Gullspångs kommun) is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the towns of Gullspång and Hova. The present municipality was formed through the amalgamation of the former entities of Amnehärad, Hova and part of Visnum. The name was taken from the locality Gullspång.

Södra Råda Old Church

Södra Råda kyrka was an early 14th century timbered church in the parish of Södra Råda in Gullspång Municipality, Västra Götaland in Sweden. It was one of the oldest preserved wooden churches in the country. The paintings covering the walls and the trefoil-shaped wooden ceiling of the church were considered one of the best and best-preserved examples of Scandinavian wall-painting from the Middle Ages. The oldest, anonymous, paintings in the chancel dated to 1323.
