Mullsjö Municipality

Mullsjö Municipality (Mullsjö kommun) is a municipality in Jönköping County, southern Sweden. Its seat is in the town Mullsjö. The municipality was formed in 1952 by the amalgamation of four former entities. In 1998 it was transferred from the dissolved Skaraborg County to Jönköping County. The geography is known for its many lakes and canoeing waters. In the winter, one may enjoy winter sports activities such as cross-country and down-hill skiing.

Habo Church

Habo Church (Habo kyrka) in Habo Parish, Jönköping County, Sweden, is a unique wooden church building. It received its present appearance in 1723. The church is unique in its architecture, which bears resemblance to a cathedral, but is built entirely in wood. It is in the form of a basilica, with a high nave and two lower side aisles. The interior of the church was painted in 1741-1743 by two artists from Jönköping, Johan Kinnerius and Johan Christian Peterson.

Helliden Castle

Helliden Castle, on the western slope of Mount Helliden, with view over the town Tidaholm, was built by Hans Henrik von Essen in 1858 as a manor. It was later rebuilt by his son Alfred. Helliden was a meeting place of many people and organisations. Oscar II, Gustav V and many other royalties visited the castle. Tidaholm Municipality

Tidaholm Municipality (Tidaholms kommun) is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Tidaholm. The municipality is located on the banks of the river Tidan. In the early 1970s a nation-wide local government reform was carried out in Sweden. Urban and rural areas were merged into larger unitary municipalities.

Battle of Gestilren

The Battle of Gestilren took place on July 17, 1210. The battle was fought between the exiled King of Sweden Sverker and the ruling King Eric. Sverker had been beaten in the previous Battle of Lena, but had returned with new forces. Sverker was killed in the battle. The exact strength of the armies are unknown, but it is believed that there were about 12,000 Danish soldiers, and at least 8,000 Swedish.
