Stechelberg

Stechelberg is a small village in the glacier carved Lauterbrunnen valley of the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland, sitting at the base of the Jungfrau mountain. The village is connected by the Luftseilbahn Stechelberg-Mürren-Schilthorn (LSMS), an aerial tramway, to the car-free skiing and hiking villages of Gimmelwald, Mürren and the Schilthorn, and over on the other side of the valley above the cliffs sits the car free village and resort of Wengen.

Gimmelwald

Gimmelwald is a small village in the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland, halfway up the mountain between Stechelberg and Mürren, at an elevation of 1363 meters (4472 feet). The Schilthorn cable car stops in Gimmelwald where it is possible to board another cable car which runs between Gimmelwald and Mürren. In addition to a shop that sells fresh cheeses, Gimmelwald also possesses its own firehouse. Farming and tourism are the main occupations.

Mürren

Mürren is a traditional Walser mountain village in Bernese Oberland, Switzerland, at an elevation of 1,650 m (5,413 ft. ) above sea level and unreachable by public road. Tourism is popular through the summer and winter; the village features a view of the three towering mountains: Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. Mürren has a population of just 450, but has 2,000 hotel beds. Mürren has its own school and two churches, one Reformed and one Roman Catholic.

Allmendhubelbahn

Seilbahn Mürren Allmendhubel (SMA), also Allmendhubelbahn, is a funicular in Bernese Oberland in Switzerland. The Allmendhubelbahn was brought into service in 1912, in order to simplify trade with other communes. It was soon used by many tourists and mountain hikers, and in the winter by skiers. It begins in Mürren with a maximum upward gradient of 61% up to the Allmendhubel . The 1000 gauge line is 551 m long. In 1999 the old red cars were replaced by new panoramic cars.

Lauterbrunnen–Mürren mountain railway

The Lauterbrunnen–Mürren mountain railway (German: Bergbahn Lauterbrunnen–Mürren, BLM) is a hybrid transport system in the Bernese Oberland area of Switzerland, which connects the villages of Lauterbrunnen and Mürren. The system consists of a connected aerial cableway, also known as the Grütschalpbahn, and an adhesion worked mountain railway.
