Belalp

Belalp is a village and ski resort in the Swiss canton of Valais, 2'100 m above sea level, in the municipality of Naters. Belalp is a car free village which can be reached by cable car from the village of Blatten. Because of its altitude the place is also a vantage point offering view of Dom and Fletschhorn and other peaks of the Pennine and Lepontine Alps. Close to the village are the summits of Nesthorn, Hohstock and Sparrhorn.

Stausee Gibidum

Stausee Gibidum (Gibidum reservoir or "Stausee Gebidem") is a reservoir in the canton of Valais, Switzerland. Its surface area is 0.21 km², shared by the municipalities of Naters and Riederalp. The construction of Gebidem dam was started in 1964 and completed by 1967. The arch dam has an elevation of 122 m and a crest length of 327 m. It is not to be confused with Gebidumsee (or Gibidumsee), a natural lake.

Brig railway station

Brig railway station is an important railway junction in the municipality of Brig-Glis, in the Canton of Valais, Switzerland. Opened in 1906, it is adjacent to the northern portal of the Simplon Tunnel, and is served by three standard gauge lines and two metre gauge lines.

Simplon Tunnel

The Simplon Tunnel is a railway tunnel that connects Brig, Switzerland and Domodossola, Italy, through the Alps, but not under Simplon Pass itself. It is straight except for shore curves at either end. It actually consists of two single-track tunnels built nearly 20 years apart. The first to be opened is 19,700 meters long, the second is 19,824 meters long, making it the longest railway tunnel in the world until the opening of the Daishimizu Tunnel in 1982.

Stockalper Palace

The Stockalper Palace is a castle in Brig-Glis, Switzerland. It was built between 1658 and 1678 by Kaspar Stockalper, a silk merchant of Brig. The Stockalper Palace was the largest private construction in Switzerland at the time. It is a Swiss heritage site of national significance. Today, the castle is uninhabited and visitors may only enjoy access by guided tour. Tours take place during May to October at 9.30, 10.30, 13.30, 14.30, 15.30 and 16.30*.
