Romainmôtier Priory is a former Cluniac priory in the municipality of Romainmôtier-Envy in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. The monastery of was founded by Romanus of Condat, after whom it was named. It is a Swiss heritage site of national significance.

Envy, Switzerland

Envy is a village and former municipality in the district of Orbe in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland. It was first recorded in year 1216 as Envi. The municipality had 58 inhabitants in 1764, which increased to 61 in 1798 and 90 in 1850. It then decreased to 88 in 1900 and 45 in 1960. In 1970 the municipality was merged with the neighboring municipality Romainmôtier to form a new and larger municipality Romainmôtier-Envy.

Border Line (Switzerland)

The Border Line defenses of Switzerland were constructed in the late 1930s in response to increasing tensions between Switzerland and its neighbors, chiefly the Axis powers of Germany and Italy. The Border Line was planned to slow or hold an invading force at the border. It consisted of a series of bunkers spaced at short intervals along the French, German and Austrian borders from Basel to St. Margrethen. The bunkers were reinforced by larger multi-blockhouse forts at key points.
