Pingxi District

Pingxi District, is a rural district in the eastern part of New Taipei City in northern Taiwan. The source of the Keelung River is in Jingtong, which is inside Pingxi District. It was an important coal mining town in the early 20th century. Area: 71.34 km² Population: 5,845 people (2003)

Jingtong

Jingtong is a locale in Pingxi District, New Taipei City in northern Taiwan. Originally a coal mining town, today it is known mostly for tourism, with numerous souvenir shops and exhibits on the history of the area and the coal mining industry. Jingtong Railway Station was built by the Japanese in the 1930s. The town is a terminus of the Pingxi Line of the Taiwan Railway Administration.
