The Airbus A300-622R jet, registered B-1814, was en route from Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali, Indonesia to Taipei, Taiwan. The weather was inclement with rain and fog when the aircraft approached Chiang Kai-shek International Airport, so the pilot executed a missed approach.

Government and private investors have been cooperating on Phase II construction since July 1996. Chung Cheng Aviation Museum
The Chung Cheng Aviation Museum is an aviation museum located at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, Taoyuan County, northern Taiwan. The museum is located in the southeastern area of the airport between the main freeway entrance and the airport terminals. It was built in 1981 by Boeing under a Civil Aeronautics Administration contract. Many retired Republic of China Air Force fighters are represented in the museum.
