Northern Thailand

Northern Thailand is geographically characterised by multiple mountain ranges, which continue from the Shan Hills in bordering Myanmar and Laos, and the river valleys which cut through them. Wat Aranyawiwake

Wat Aranyawiwake, also known as Wat Ban Pong is a monastery in the Thai Forest Tradition of the Theravada lineage of Buddhism located in Mae Taeng, Chiang Mai Province, northern Thailand. Phra Ajahn Plien Panyapatipo is the current abbot of Wat Aranyawiwake, where he resided since 1966. Wat Aranyawiwake was established and named by Luang Pho Mun Bhuridatta, the “father” of the current tradition of forest meditation monastics.
