Kraburi River

The Kraburi River, also Kra or Pak Chan River, is the boundary river between Thailand and Myanmar at the Kra Isthmus of the Malay Peninsula. The river has its source in the Tenasserim Hills and flows into the Andaman Sea near the Thai town of Ranong and Kawthaung (Victoria Point), Myanmar. Most notable about the river is its long and up to 6 km wide tidal estuary, which contains the largest preserved mangrove forests of Thailand. It is therefore a protected area.

Ranong Province

Ranong is one of Thailand's southern provinces (changwat), located on the west coast along the Andaman Sea. It has the fewest inhabitants of any Thai provinces. Neighboring Ranong are (clockwise) Chumphon, Surat Thani and Phang Nga. To the west, it borders Kawthaung, Tanintharyi, Myanmar.

Ranong

Ranong is a town in southern Thailand, capital of the Ranong Province and the Mueang Ranong district. The town covers completely the area of the tambon Khao Niwet (เขานิเวศน์). As of 2005 it has a population of 16,163.
