The lake, 8 km long and 1 km wide, was formed as the result of a great landslide, which blocked the valley though which the Tortum River flowed. Kılıçkaya
Kılıçkaya is a town in Yusufeli district of Artvin Province, Turkey. The population of the town is 1212 as of 2011. In 1547, the town was incorporated in to Ottoman Empire.
