Ashley, Cheshire

Ashley is a village and civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire East and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 261. The village is at a crossroads close to the border of Cheshire with Greater Manchester, and is just to the south of the M56 motorway and close to the Manchester Airport runway. The village is the site of Ashley railway station. Neighbouring villages include Hale, Rostherne and Mobberley.

Ashley railway station

Ashley also known in some timetables as Ashley for Rostherne is a railway station serving the village of Ashley in Cheshire, England, not far from the border with Greater Manchester. There is an hourly service (more at peak times) running to Manchester via Stockport, and in the opposite direction to Chester. The station is unstaffed and was, until 12 December 2010, a request stop only.

Bucklow Rural District

Bucklow Rural District was, from 1894 to 1974, a local government district in the north of the administrative county of Cheshire, England. http://www. visionofbritain. org. uk/relationships. jsp?u_id=10201433 Following the Local Government Act 1972, this rural district was split between the new Greater Manchester boroughs of Trafford and Manchester, and Macclesfield, which was retained in Cheshire.

Hale Barns is an affluent village in Altrincham in the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford, Greater Manchester, England. Historically part of Cheshire, Hale Barns lies about 12 miles south of Manchester city centre, 2 miles west of Manchester Airport and close to the River Bollin. According to the 2001 census, the village had a population of 9,143.

Mobberley railway station

Mobberley railway station serves the village of Mobberley in Cheshire, England. The station was opened on 12 May 1862 by the Cheshire Midland Railway which was absorbed by the Cheshire Lines Committee on 15 August 1867. It is located to the north of the village and is managed by Northern Rail. The station is 18½ miles (30 km) south of Manchester Piccadilly on the Mid-Cheshire Line towards Chester.
