Bayford, Hertfordshire

Bayford is a village and civil parish in the East Hertfordshire district of Hertfordshire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 435. The village is about three miles south of Hertford, and is served by Bayford railway station. Bayford has won 'best kept village' awards in previous years and is renowned for being a place of beauty. Bayford contains a local primary school: Bayford (C of E) VC Primary School.

Bayford railway station

Bayford railway station serves the villages of Bayford and Brickendon in Hertfordshire, England. The station is on the Hertford Loop Line 18¾ miles (30 km) north of London Kings Cross.

Bayfordbury

Bayfordbury, Hertfordshire is the location of a University of Hertfordshire campus, housing their biology/geography field station and observatory. The site is also home to the Science Learning Centre for the East of England, which runs training courses for teachers and technicians in science learning for early years, primary and secondary. Also located here is a large Grade II* listed country house and parkland. The estate is approximately 50 Ha on the south side of the B158, near Hertford.

River Beane

The River Beane is a tributary of the River Lea. It rises to the south-west of Sandon, Hertfordshire in the hills northeast of Stevenage in Hertfordshire. Hertfordshire's population increased substantially in the second half of the twentieth century, and a licence was given to abstract water near Aston for Stevenage's water supply. The river has been adversely affected by over-exploitation of the chalk aquifer in its upper reaches.
