RAF Blyton
RAF Blyton is a former Royal Air Force airfield in located 4.8 miles north east of Gainsborough, Lincolnshire and 9.6 miles of south Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, England. It was built in 1942 and was heavily used during World War II, but it was used little after the early stages of the Cold War.

Gainsborough Rural District
Gainsborough was rural district in Lincolnshire, Parts of Lindsey from 1894 to 1974. It was formed under the Local Government Act 1894 from that part of the Gainsborough rural sanitary district which was in Lindsey. It was reduced in 1936 under a County Review Order by ceding the parishes of Haxey, Oston Ferry and West Butterwick, all part of the Isle of Axholme, to the Isle of Axholme Rural District.

The West Riding of Lindsey was a division of the Lindsey part of Lincolnshire in England. It consisted of the north western part of the county, and included the Isle of Axholme and the Aslacoe, Corringham, Manley, Lawress and Well wapentakes. The administrative centre of the riding was Kirton-in-Lindsey. At the time of the Domesday Book, the riding also contained Lincoln, although in 1409 it became a county corporate. Other important towns included Gainsborough.
