Chesil Cove is a beach which is the most southerly part of the 18-mile long Chesil Beach in Dorset, England. The beach protects the low lying village of Chiswell in Underhill on the Isle of Portland from flooding.

Underhill, Dorset

Underhill is the name given to the area of very steep land, at the northern end of the Isle of Portland in Dorset, England, which contains the villages of Chiswell, Castletown and Fortuneswell. The remaining part of the island is known as Tophill.

Portland (Dorset) railway station

Portland was a railway station on the Portland Branch Railway in the west of the English county of Dorset. Opened with the Weymouth and Portland railway, one of the constituent parts of a complex line, on 1 September 1902, the station was moved to a new site on the opening of the extension to Easton. After this the old station was used as a goods station and depot.

Verne Citadel

Verne Citadel is a citadel on the Isle of Portland, Dorset, England. The citadel was started in 1847 at a camp for prisoners building Portland harbour's breakwaters, and was extended during the 1860s as a result of the Royal Commission, ending up with 8 RML guns with calibres up to 12". It is now used as a prison — The Verne, with no public access. Following WWII the Citadel was used for training newly conscripted recruits of the corps of the Royal Engineers.
