St. Paul's, Deptford

St Paul's, Deptford is one of London's finest Baroque parish churches. It was designed by architect Thomas Archer and built between 1712 and 1730 in Deptford, which was then in Kent but is now part of South East London. It was one of the 50 churches that were to be built by the New Church Commissioners, although only 12 were ultimately constructed.

Addey and Stanhope School

Addey and Stanhope School is a voluntary-aided, co-educational secondary school, located in Lewisham, London, England. A former grammar school, with origins dating to 1606, Addey and Stanhope became a specialist science and technology school in 2006. The headmistress is currently Mrs Ann Potter.

New Cross house fire

The New Cross house fire was a devastating house fire during a birthday party in New Cross, southeast London, on Sunday, 18 January 1981. The blaze killed 13 young black people. Some in Britain were shocked by what they perceived as indifference among the white population and accused London's Metropolitan Police Service of covering-up the cause, which some suspected was an arson attack motivated by racism.

A206 road

The A206 road links Greenwich with Greenhithe following the line of the River Thames. Today it is approximately 15 miles (24 km) in length, although the final section is a relatively new road. Its primary purpose is to link into the London Orbital motorway at the Dartford Crossing and is heavily used by lorries.
