Acklington railway station

Acklington railway station serves the village of Acklington in Northumberland, England. The station is located on the East Coast Main Line, although in the May 2010 timetable the only trains calling at Acklington are one northbound and two southbound local services operated on Mondays to Saturdays (and none on Sundays) by Northern Rail, who also manage the station.

Nelson Memorial, Swarland

A relatively obscure memorial to Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson, victor of the Battle of Trafalgar, is situated by the old A1, at Swarland in north Northumberland, England. The Nelson Memorial, Swarland is a white freestone obelisk erected in 1807, two years after Nelson's death, by his friend and sometime agent, Alexander Davison, who owned an estate centred around the now demolished Swarland Hall. It is a Grade II listed monument.

HM Prison Acklington

HM Prison Acklington is a Category C men's prison, located near the village of Acklington a few miles from Amble), in Northumberland, England. Acklington Prison is operated by Her Majesty's Prison Service. HMP Acklington is the most northerly adult prison in England, and is built on the site of the former RAF Acklington airfield.

Newton Hall, Northumberland

Newton Hall is an 18th century country house at Newton on the Moor, near Alnwick, Northumberland. It is a Grade II listed building. The house was built for Samuel Cook on the site of an earlier house in 1772. His grandson Samuel Edward Cook inherited the estate and also the Hauxley estate of his maternal grandmother Frances Widdrington. In 1840 he changed his name to Widdrington. He served as High Sheriff of Northumberland in 1854.
