Cattal is a village and civil parish in the Harrogate district of North Yorkshire, England. It is on the River Nidd and one mile east of the A1 road and just off the A59. It is about four miles from Knaresborough. Cattal is located 12 miles west of the city of York. The village is very old and was mentioned in the Domesday Book.

Battle of Marston Moor
The Battle of Marston Moor was fought on 2 July 1644, during the First English Civil War of 1642–1646. The combined forces of the English Parliamentarians under Lord Fairfax and the Earl of Manchester and the Scottish Covenanters under the Earl of Leven defeated the Royalists commanded by Prince Rupert of the Rhine and the Marquess of Newcastle. During the summer of 1644, the Covenanters and Parliamentarians had been besieging York, which was defended by the Marquess of Newcastle.

Claro was a wapentake of the West Riding of Yorkshire, England. It was split into two divisions. It consists of two roads, Main Street which is the residential area and Church Lane which contains a Holy Trinity Church that is listed as a grade I listed building. It also has a small brick bridge with a little stream flowing under it leading to new road which leads to Great Ouseburn.
