Warton, Warwickshire

Warton is a village in the North Warwickshire district of Warwickshire, United Kingdom. It is five miles east of Tamworth and four miles north-west of Atherstone, and is in the civil parish of Polesworth. Warton is a small village, which, being surrounded by rivers, may derive its name from Waverton (Water village). Twycross Zoo

Twycross Zoo is an 80-acre zoo near the village of Twycross in Leicestershire, close to the border of Warwickshire (on the A444 about 3 miles off the A42/M42). The zoo claims the largest collections of monkeys and apes in the World, and in 2006 re-launched itself as "Twycross Zoo – The World Primate Centre. " The zoo attracts around 500,000 visitors a year. The zoo is open year round except Christmas Day.

Orton on the Hill

Orton on the Hill is a hamlet forming part of the Twycross civil parish in the Hinckley and Bosworth district of Leicestershire, England. It is furthermore located in the Sparkenhoe Hundred. The name is derived from its high situation on a hill overlooking four counties, (also formerly called Wortone or Overtone). Orton adjoins Morebarne, Sheepy and Newhouse Grange on the south, Appleby and Austrey to the east.

Alvecote Priory

Alvecote Priory is a ruined Benedictine Priory in Alvecote, Warwickshire, England. Now very little remains of the priory, most of the walls have been eroded but a fairly high wall remains on one side. The main entrance arch is the most impressive feature, still standing at around 20 feet high. It was founded 1159 by William Burdett as a dependency of Great Malvern Priory.
