New Stubbin Colliery

New Stubbin Colliery was a coal mine situated in the township of Rawmarsh near Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England. The colliery was situated in a deep valley. Along one side at the top of the valley runs Haugh Road, Rawmarsh and on the other a lane known locally as “Greasbrough Tops”. The first sod of the new colliery development was cut by Viscount Milton, son of Earl Fitzwilliam, on November 14, 1913 and it took until 1915 to complete the sinking.

Parkgate, South Yorkshire

Parkgate is located in South Yorkshire, England. It has since been consumed by its neighbour Rawmarsh, from which it has been indistinguishable since the early 20th century. Its name is said to originate from its location at the end point of the Parkland of Wentworth Woodhouse. Although it marks the old entry gates of the parkland, the wentworth estate stretched far past this, encompassing 90,000 acres, of what was beautiful English countryside.

Roman Rig

The Roman Rig (also known as Roman Ridge, Scotland Balk, or Barber Balk) is the name given to a series of earthworks to the north east of Sheffield in South Yorkshire, England that are believed to originally have formed a single Dyke running from near Wincobank in Sheffield to Mexborough. Its purpose and date of construction are unknown.
