Ryall, Dorset

Ryall is a small village in the county of Dorset, on the south coast of Great Britain. It is situated roughly midway between the towns of Bridport and Lyme Regis, with the county town of Dorchester about 20 miles to the east. The village lies on the northern slopes of Hardown Hill, about 2 miles inland from the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. To the north the village looks across the Marshwood Vale towards a line of hills including Pilsdon Pen.

Moridunum (Axminster)

Moridunum was a fort and small town in the Roman province of Britannia. Its remains are located at Woodbury Farm, immediately south of Axminster in the English county of Devon. The square fort was built at the intersection of two Roman roads, the Fosse Way and Durnovaria-Isca Dumnoniorum road, apparently in the 2nd century. Its ditch survives around much of the site.

Mary Anning (21 May 1799 – 9 March 1847) was a British fossil collector, dealer, and paleontologist who became known around the world for a number of important finds she made in the Jurassic marine fossil beds at Lyme Regis in Dorset, where she lived. Her work contributed to fundamental changes that occurred during her lifetime in scientific thinking about prehistoric life and the history of the Earth.
