Royton (pop. 21,000) is a town within the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, in Greater Manchester, England. It lies by the source of the River Irk, on undulating land at the foothills of the South Pennines, 1.7 miles north-northwest of Oldham, 3.2 miles south-southeast of Rochdale and 7.6 miles northeast of the city of Manchester. Historically a part of Lancashire, Royton and its surroundings have provided evidence of ancient British, Roman and Viking activity in the area.

High School was a Roman Catholic high school and sixth form for 11-18 year olds, located in Royton, in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. , The school was a specialist school in Mathematics and Computing, and contained over 80 members of staff, with over 1,200 students. The sixth form college offered 19 (as of the 2007/08 academic year) courses. The school had a dispute in 2010 after Headteacher Mr R. Whittaker was suspended.

It lies at the northwestern extremity of Oldham, with the towns of Royton and Chadderton lying immediately north and west respectively, giving rise to the name Boundary Park. Boundary Park was originally known as Athletic Ground when it was opened in 1896 for Oldham's first professional association football club, Oldham County F.C.. Royal Oldham Hospital
The Royal Oldham Hospital is a NHS hospital in Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. It forms part of Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and was opened with its present name on 1 December 1989. Its services are commissioned by NHS Oldham. Formerly known as Oldham District and General, the hospital, which lies within the Coldhurst area of Oldham on the boundary with Royton. It was the birthplace of Louise Brown, the world's first successful in vitro fertilised "test tube baby", on 25 July 1978.
