Shoreham Aircraft Museum

The Shoreham Aircraft Museum is located in the village of Shoreham near Sevenoaks in Kent, England, on the south-east edge of Greater London. It was founded by volunteers in 1978 and is dedicated to the airmen who fought in the skies over southern England during the Second World War. The museum houses aviation relics excavated by the Shoreham Aircraft Preservation Society over 30 years.

Shoreham railway station

Shoreham railway station serves Shoreham in Kent, England. Train services are provided by Southeastern. The ticket office here was closed c 1992, having been manned only during part of the day; these days, a PERTIS passenger-operated ticket machine issues 'Permits to Travel' - which are exchanged on-train or at manned stations for travel tickets - and is located on the Ashford-bound platform.

Battle of Otford (776)

The Battle of Otford was a battle fought in 776 between Mercia, led by King Offa, and the Jutes of Kent at Otford (in what is today in the English county of Kent). Although the outcome of the battle is not recorded, the re-establishment of Kent as an independent kingdom implies that the battle was won by Kent. The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle notes only that the Mercians and the people of Kent fought at Otford, without giving the outcome.
